More on the roof:
We don't have all the details worked out with Allstate. Allstate quoted a 20 year shingle and we upgraded to a 40 year roof. I am appealing the Allstate claim amount but doubt I win it. This is the 2nd time I've had a roof replaced. The house we owned in Grand Rapids when we were in Seminary desperately needed a roof but I left it alone. We had our roof replaced in Littleton Colorado back in the early 90's. Hopefully this is the last time I have to replace a roof! Asphalt shingles come in basic, good, better and best. We decided on the GAF "Timberline 40 Shadow Accent shingles". I also priced steel shingles but they are extremely expensive.
