Beautiful Spring Day

We worshiped at 4th today. This morning Pastor Levy preached from Acts 17:1-9: Paul's lessons on Church planting. Without reproducing his outline it was something like this:

We must:

  1. Be Sensitive to the Lord's leading: Acts 16:9,10, "Come over to Macedonia and help us.” Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them."
  2. Be Evangelistic: Acts 17:2-3, "Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead"
  3. Be Confident that some will be saved: Acts 17:4, "And some of them were persuaded; and a great multitude of the devout Greeks, and not a few of the leading women, joined Paul and Silas"
  4. Be Patient because persecution will result: Acts 17:5-9, "But the Jews who were not persuaded, becoming envious, took some of the evil men from the marketplace, and gathering a mob, set all the city in an uproar and attacked the house of Jason"

He had a point for vs 1 but I don't recollect what it was!

Tonight at 4th, Dan Brown preached from Ephesians 4:11, "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers". Points were: Christ is the head of His Church and Christ will provide His gift of our next Senior Pastor. Dan also presented the pulpit committee process in detail. It was an excellent message and presentation. Dan asked three things of the church:

  1. Be patient (the last time 4th was without a Senior Pastor, the process took a year!)
  2. Privacy is imperative.
  3. Pray for the pulpit committee

Tonight the Church voted Pastor Kilian as Executive Pastor in the interim while we are without a Senior Pastor.

This afternoon, Roger and Kathee loaded up the PU truck with brush and sticks from the blowdown which we disposed of at the yard waste site. The truck was loaded high!

Kathee is making potato salad tonight for tomorrow's Memorial Day dinner.
