Zygi's 10% solution

We'll put up $250 million for stadium

Excerpt:

The Vikings owner says his overall plans for Downtown East will cost $2 billion, and if the state wants a roof, the state should pay.

Hoping to seize an "opportunity" that he says "will create a new neighborhood, a new community and a new attitude," Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf on Friday put a $2 billion price tag on his vision to revitalize Minneapolis' Downtown East district: $954 million for a new Vikings stadium on the site of the Metrodome and an additional $1 billion to refurbish the surrounding area.

Comment:

A little history is in order. The previous plan was for a $ 670 million stadium in Blaine and the Vikings would pay $ 280 million. The lastest is a $ 2,000 million plan and the Vikings will pay $ 250 million. And the roof is extra (pd by the state)! Every time Zygi discloses a new plan, the costs go up and his contribution goes down! By the way, the Blaine plan included a roof! Both on the front page of the Star Tribune today: the juxtaposition of Foreclosures take a toll on North Minneapolis (here's a neighborhood in need!) with Zygi's proposal is sickening!
