Hebrews conclusion
K and I concluded Hebrews tonight by reading chapters 11-13. Here are some great sections:
Hebrews 11:6, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."
Hebrews 11:13-16, "These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them."
Comment: this is my desire: "desire a better, that is, a heavenly country"! At 57 you never know how soon I might see this!
Hebrews 12:12-13, "Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed"
Comment: If you could see how badly I walk (with crutches) you would know how I can identify with this verse!
Hebrews 12:25, "See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven"
Comment: Hear Him!
Hebrews 12:28-29, "serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire."
Hebrews 13:4, "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge."
Hebrews 13:5, "Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have"
Hebrews 13:8, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever"
