The gospel in a nutshell

I Peter 3:18. "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,"

  1. Christ's crucifixion - " suffered ... put to death in the flesh"
  2. Christ's victorious resurrection - " but made alive by the Spirit"
  3. Christ's Impeccability - "the just for the unjust"
  4. Our sinfulness - "the just for the unjust"
  5. Christ's substitutionary atonement (He died once! for our sins!) - "once for sins, the just for the unjust"
  6. The purpose of His Holy life and substitutionary death and glorious resurrection - "that He might bring us to God" (a purpose clause in the Greek language of the New Testament!)
