Shopping for a camera
Sunday as we went to a USMC commissioning service for Sam G who was sworn in as a 2nd Lieutenant. I took my Nikon Coolpix 5700 along to take pictures. I had never met Sam before although I did write to him while he was in Afghanistan. Isaac was there as well, another Marine that I had written to during his Afghanistan tour. Our Son was in his dress blues (which we had never seen him in) and I tried to get pics of the three of them but the camera was dead.
After investigating further, it's been diagnosed as a failed CCD. National Camera Exchange tells me that it is not worth repairing - best to buy a new camera.
So ... does anyone have any advice? What brand would you recommend? Point & shoot or SLR?
Happenings:
- Kathee and I met her Brother and Sister-in-Law for dinner tonight at Applebees.
- We walked into Ritz to look at cameras but there was a long wait and we came home.
- Scripture reading: 2 Samuel 21 & 22
2 Samuel 22:47, "The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation."
Song: The Lord Liveth (and Blessed Be my Rock)
I'd say read the digital camera reviews and rankings at Cnet.
ReplyDeleteCnet is a great site for finding reviews. I've used the Canon S3 IS quite a lot and like it. Canons in general have been my favorite cameras over the past several years.
ReplyDeleteNational Camera Exchange is also a great place to go to try them out - they typically have very knowlegeable sales personnel.
