Mission Accomplished?
I asked our speaker at church yesterday if on the cross, Christ accomplished the salvation of the elect? I won't share his answer but I believe the following verses speak of salvaton accomplished!
So here's my question: Is Christ's “It is finished!” like Bush's "Mission Accomplished"? I have a view!
- John 19:30, "So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit."
- Hebrews 12:2, "looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
- 1 Peter 1:18-19, "knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. "
- Romans 3:24, "being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus"
- Ephesians 1:7, "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace"
- 1 Corinthians 6:20, "For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."
- Galatians 3:13, "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” )"
- Galatians 4:4,5, "But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born f a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
- Romans 8:29-30, "For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified"
- 1 Peter 1:2, "elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ"
- Ephesians 1:4-5, "just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will"
- John 10:11, "The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep"
- John 10:15, "I lay down My life for the sheep"
- John 10:27, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me"
