BTW: I'm not having problems with GMAIL. I use it natively plus for 2 domains: jrpeet.com & metrowomenscenter.org
It's a rotten link for testing if a site is down: as far as I can see, most websites it simply doesn't know about, and so can't report whether they're up or down. Further, there is no means to provide feedback. So, really, it's pretty useless unless Google.com does go down.
