Facebook's privacy policies a concern
Why I left Facebook - The social networking service’s privacy policies should give users pause
Excerpt:
Why not simply set everything up for opt-in rather than opt-out? Facebook seems to assume that users generally want all the details of their private lives made public.
Comment: I haven't left Facebook. Some features like photo sharing are really great. But the friends of the friends of the friends connections concern me. Also I have had at least 2 "friend requests" that appeared to come from prostitutes or women trying to sell porn.
Facebook's privacy policies do give me pause. But like you, I haven't left it yet. Unlike many people that seem to use it, I exercise my own privacy policy: don't put anything there that I don't want others to see! And if someone else does (say, like a photo of me), it's simple to disassociate myself with that item.
