Snowy New Year's Day
The weather service reports that we received 7" of snow in Plymouth, but it was a lot of rain that turned to snow that melted before it collected.
My driveway was about 3" deep with snow, but ice packed underneath.
Kathee made a nice breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast. I plowed my driveway, Mrs Finke's, the Parnes and the Howmans (both out of town).
Now back and having coffee and reading the paper.
Extract from Star Tribune:
The west-metro area bore the brunt of the snowfall. The heaviest snow extended from Mankato north into Waconia and Buffalo on the western edge of the metro area, said Karen Trammell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Chanhassen. Mankato and Waconia both got 10 inches, the most reported on Sunday.

Two Ways to Live
Kathee and I went out to see the movie Sweet Land
Sweet Land was filmed in SW Minnesota (Montevideo, Madison, and Dawson) in October 2004. It is a love story set in 1920. Igna, Olaf's mail order bride, arrives on Minnesota plains to face the realities and hardships of life in the upper mid-west. Igna, who is German and not Swedish, faces community hostility because the Germans are considered "vermin".
