Who is Jesus
JP, good to see your blog talking about a variety of topics now instead of just Trump. I have a Bible question for you. When did the Bible change from mentioning new wine into old "wineskins" to "bottles"?
The word "bottle" is not common in modern translations. But see Isaiah 3:20 in the NIV: "the headdresses and anklets and sashes, the perfume bottles and charms". In the NT, the word "bottle" is in the KJV as in Matthew 9:17, "Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved"The Greek word is ἀσκός.All of the modern translations have "wineskins" here.
Here's Matthew 9:17, in a myriad of translations: this link
Cool. Thank you for the good references. I am just confused on the KJV (I am not a KJV-only person!). I always thought it was "wineskin" and that "bottles" was only in the NKJV. When did the KJV change? It seems like I saw something about a change in the year 2000. In other words, if I go to a KJV published before 2000 it should say "wineskins", but if I go to a KJV published 2000 or later it should say "bottles". I don't have two copies in front of me at the moment to verify, but that's the best I can conclude at the moment.
Wow, just looking into the "Mandela Effect." As Johnny Carson would say, "That is weird, wild stuff." I don't think it's a Mandela Effect; I think it was changed in about the year 2000 and people are just getting weird about it.
I think there is just a lot of confusion on the Bible. A lot of people think the Bible talks about the lion laying with the lamb, for example. There is no such verse. A lot of Biblical ignorance out there.
One of the reasons I don't like CCM is because they have songs about the lion and the lamb. There is no such verse in the Bible. If CCM can't even get simple, basic facts correct, do you really want to listen to it?
A lot of people are ignorant of a lot of basic things. In the 80's, people thought it was funny to go around saying, "Luke, I am your father" because they thought they were quoting a line from a movie and there is no such movie quote. The real line is, "No, I am your father." Lot's of ignorant people making quotes of things that never existed.
These comments are real interesting, quite the dilemna. I remember when "dilemna" was spelled correctly - d-i-l-e-m-n-a. My dictionary changed and it now says "dilemma." Weird. I
Speaking of dictionaries, I went to my online library of music to listen to some music while I contemplate these things. I wanted to listen to some Reba, so I searched for her name in my library: Reba McIntyre. She was not there so I thought I might have accidentally erased her. I found out she changed her name from "McIntyre" to "McEntire." I'm not sure why she did that. It reminds me of someone who goes to McDonald's and eats the entire Big Mac. I liked her name the way it was before.
Jim, you're a computer guy, correct? I won't link to it, since your website says links will be rejected. But why does the children's Bible song make reference to a foolish man who build his house upon the sand, but the Bible does not say "sand" and now says "earth" instead? I think I said "sand" for the last 500 years or so until just recently. Did the people at CERN mess up our sense of time? This is too weird. We are living in great deception right now.
