  1. What this is called is a "flex fuel engine," and GM, Ford, and Chrysler have been shipping them for years. Kudos to Lotus for pulling one over on Autoblog, and shame on Autoblog for falling for it.

    Technology is real simple, and parts of it have been used in production vehicles since the 1980s. An oxygen sensor determines whether the engine is getting enough, or too much, fuel, and high temperature gaskets and alcohol tolerant hoses make the engine burn alcohol safely.

    I'd be impressed if this thing burned everything from gasoline to cheese grits, but this is just a clever rebadging of fairly old technology.
