Divert 10 percent of your income to savings; ignore raises and put them into savings, too; learn to cook; and skip the lattes.
Good advice on marriage:
Fine feedback, indeed, and my wife’s counsel reminds me that I should have added one other bit of advice: find a partner and stay together. Study after study show that two can live more cheaply together than each alone and that divorce is the great destroyer of wealth.
Comments: Save early, skip non-essentials, etc. See his comments about lattes. My wife was telling a co-worker about our relatively expensive coffee maker (see earlier posting about the Bunn A10), and this co-worker confessed that she bought three lattes a day! She decided to purchase a $ 1,200 Italian coffee maker and fund it by skipping the thrice daily lattes!
