Felony for Balloon-boy Dad

Lawyer: Colo. balloon boy parents to plead guilty

Excerpt:

The Colorado parents who reported their 6-year-old son floated away aboard a helium balloon will plead guilty to some charges and serve probation so that the family can stay together, the attorney for the boy's father said Thursday.

Richard Heene will plead guilty in the alleged Oct. 15 hoax to attempting to influence a public servant, a felony, his attorney David Lane said. Mayumi Heene—a Japanese citizen who could have been deported if convicted of more serious charges—will plead guilty to false reporting to authorities, a misdemeanor, he said.

Comment: If I ever hear about Richard Heene after today .... GONNA GAG!

  1. Ridiculous...'plead guilty...so that they family can stay together' Cut the emotion out of this case. Many other people who did far less crimes still have to pay. I have a friend who turned himself in and was convicted and sentenced to prison time and was given a felony. He served 1 year. Not going to say what he did, but let me just say, it was a far less serious thing than this. I don't normally get worked up about news items, and I don't normally wish 'evil' upon anyone, but I hope he gets prosecuted for reimbursement of monies used to search for the boy. Especially since he feels no remorse.
