Comment: I've known Dave for almost 8 years. He and his wife Amy were the social activities directors at Emmaus Baptist Church. They've been at 4th Baptist for 2 or 3 years. A couple Dave memories:

  1. Question: What's retirement like? Dave: It's like every day is a Saturday.
  2. Dave and Amy served faithfully as greeters at Fourth Baptist Church
  3. Dave and Amy would go to Mexico every year for 3 weeks. Dave would return so tanned that he looked like a Mexican.
  4. Dave broke his hip a couple of years ago. As a result of his injury he walked with somewhat of a stiff leg. I would often call him "John Wayne".
  5. Dave visited with me on Sunday 10/18 to tell me about their upcoming trip to Cancun. He said, I'll see you in three weeks. He died on Sunday 10/25!

Dave was a faithful, God-fearing, people-loving man! He joins the "general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven" (Hebrews 12:23). I will miss him!

  2. I'll be missing him, too. And for Kathee's sake, hopefully it'll be a little longer than three weeks when you see Dave again!

On the other hand, if He does not tarry....

Dave also would help out as an usher at 4th. Given the condition of his hip, I didn't ask often, but from time to time, he toughed it out and helped us out a lot.
