Why go to church?

This is a good article and I look forward to succeeding articles.

Here are my 5 reasons for going to church:

  1. Worship Christ with a body of believers.
  2. Sustain a public testimony to my community of our risen Savior (if no one went ... our church would not exist)
  3. A place and time to exercise the "one another" commands like "greet one another"
  4. Spiritual refreshment
  5. Command of Christ

The question is worth thinking about because it takes energy and time to attend church. It does not happen by mistake! Additionally much is there to crowd out church attendance: sleep, folly, entertainment, travel, work, etc.

Even for one who has been "going to church" for almost 40 years, it is easy to slack off and not go!

Kathee and I read Exodus 15 & 16 tonight. Comments:

  1. Exodus 15: Moses Song of Praise follows the great deliverance of Israel from the Pharaoh's pursuing army!
  2. Likewise, praise and worship should naturally flow from genuine salvation (deliverance from sin and hell!). Those who know Christ have something for which to praise Him!
  3. Exodus 16. Manna means "what is it?". Which was the question Israelites asked when then saw it on the ground!
